Storm Eunice hit London and it was like a wild wind warzone. Fences collapsed, bins flew, trampolines hit the air and more debries landing on railway tracks. Men and women fought the strength of the wind but some were subdued and were blow away landing in places they never wanted to be.

The government had issue red warning about the threat of Storm Eunice. However, some had to go to work, others had flights scheduled, trucks to deliver important products saw this as just another day and they all tried to do what they do each day.  The problem was, Master Storm Eunice didn’t care about their decisions.

So then, planes couldn’t land. Storm tried to blow them away. Trees fell on roads hitting buses, cars and anything on their way. All forms of transport were halted. In North London, a tree fell on a car killing a lady.

In London O2 or popularly known as the millennium dome was not spared. Storm Eunice with great fury ripped it into bits. The front part of the O2 was left in ruins. As strong wind gusts showed no mercy on the building.

O2 in London torn by the storm

The London eye, cable cars and any other air services were stopped due to their vulnerability of them as they risked destruction. Sadly. Four people lost their lives through storm Eunice.

According to scientists, Eunice has been reportedly the worst storm in British history.  Thousands went with no internet connection.  To cope with the challenges brought by Storm Eunice creatives got an opportunity for entertainment. Clips and memes went viral online showcasing how people in the UK were being blown awa by the wind.

On Tittok, a clip of fans cheering and encouraging the plane at Heathrow Airport to land properly went viral as you could hear people cheering when the plane overcame the force of the storm and finally landed. But one thing I found spectacular about yesterday’s storm was peoples’ capabilities to turn this horrific storm into a comedic opportunity to make people laugh. Do you think this is something we’d look back on in 2023?
